The Montco 30% Project welcomes two dynamic and knowledgeable individuals who plan to speak at our April 1st rally on the county courthouse steps in Norristown. Start time for the rally is 1 p.m.
State Representative Izzy Smith-Wade-El (D-49th), of Lancaster, is a freshman lawmaker and former President of Lancaster City Council. During his four years on Council, Izzy helped secure the largest investments in affordable housing and lead removal for the City of Lancaster in its history. As a program specialist at Lancaster County Homeless Coalition, he coordinated services and support for Lancaster County's housing insecure community, according to his House page.
Additionally, we are excited to welcome an expert on eviction, Carl Gershenson, project director with The Eviction Lab of Princeton University. He has published on the causes and consequences of housing instability, with a special focus on how eviction leads to further economic and residential insecurity. Gershenson, a native of the Lansdale area, lives in Philadelphia.
In the coming weeks, additional speakers will be announced. If your organization is interested in attending or speaking at the rally, email montco30percent@gmail.com.
