We are honored to announce the addition of two Norristown area civic and political leaders to our April 1 rally at the courthouse.
Angie Hinton, president of the Greater Norristown Chapter of the NAACP and executive director of PA Youth Vote, will bring enthusiasm and passion for engaging the community in the work ahead on affordable housing – especially with the youth.
Adding another local perspective, Norristown Councilwoman Lauren Hughes will also address the crowd. Hughes possesses legal experience in the areas of public health, housing, and workforce – among others – as a practicing attorney. They will join Pennsylvania State Rep. Izzy Smith-Wade-El and Carl Gershenson of Princeton University's Eviction Lab, who were previously announced.

In addition to speakers, the following organizations will be tabling at this event: CADCOM, Habitat for Humanity of Montco & Delco counties, Norristown Hospitality Center, HopeWorx, and POWER Interfaith.
In other news, the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners announced the formation of a Task Force on Homelessness last week. Health & Human Services Director Tamara Williams said the group will be “tasked with prioritizing goals and mobilizing resources to support them,” with expected subject matter areas including housing, employment and trash removal, as reported by Rachel Ravina.
